Less Noise, More Signal
The modern world is very good at occupying every empty space.
Waiting for a taxi? Screen.
Eating alone? Screen.
Five minutes before a meeting? Screen.
Unable to sleep? More screen.
Silence has almost become an accident.
Yet some things cannot reach us through constant stimulation.
A difficult truth.
A new idea.
A forgotten desire.
The recognition that something in our life has quietly ended.
The intuition that it is time to move.
These messages are rarely loud.
They do not compete well with notifications.
This may be why silence can initially feel uncomfortable. When external noise disappears, internal noise becomes audible. Stay a little longer and something else may appear beneath it.
Clarity.
Not always an answer.
But a signal.
And sometimes one clear signal is worth more than a thousand pieces of information.
