Five Elements, One Body

Sometimes the oldest ideas survive because they point toward something we can still feel.

Earth. Water. Fire. Air. Space.

Not as a doctrine. As a way of noticing.

Earth is the weight of the body, the bones, the ground beneath the feet.

Water is movement, circulation, tears, oceans, rivers, everything that refuses to remain fixed.

Fire is metabolism, desire, courage, transformation.

Air is the first breath and the last one, and every invisible exchange in between.

And space is what allows everything else to exist. The silence between words. The emptiness inside the lungs. The room around an idea. The distance necessary to see clearly.

When life becomes unbalanced, I sometimes find it more useful to ask a very simple question:

Which element have I forgotten?

Maybe I need grounding.
Maybe movement.
Maybe heat.
Maybe breath.
Maybe simply more space.

The body often speaks in a language much older than thought.
